Control
Lyric's policies
Lyric's Constitution judges every act before it runs: first against Lyric's five laws, then against Lyric's declared policy and, in an organization, the declarations of its own policies. Both are set by Dominion Labs and apply to every act Lyric takes, in every deployment.
The five laws
| Law | What it requires |
|---|---|
| Law 1 · Human Autonomy Preservation | Directives must preserve and enhance human control over AI systems, maintaining human decision authority in critical domains. |
| Law 2 · Transparency and Explainability | Directives must maintain interpretable decision-making and enable humans to understand AI reasoning processes. |
| Law 3 · Harm Prevention | Directives must prevent physical and psychological harm to humans, and prohibit deceptive behavior. |
| Law 4 · Value Alignment | Directives must align with human values, ethics, and respect human rights and dignity. |
| Law 5 · Containment and Control | Directives must maintain operational boundaries and preserve safety mechanisms including shutdown capabilities. |
Lyric's declared policy
Lyric's declared policy holds 30 declarations covering recursive and raw disk destruction, credential access, data egress, privilege escalation, schema destruction, persistence, and changes to Lyric's own safety infrastructure. A declaration covers an operation whichever tool carries it out, so the policy holds as Lyric gains new tools and capabilities.
| Kind | What it matches |
|---|---|
| Actions | The tool Lyric is about to run and the values of its arguments |
| Targets | A path, URL, command or query an act names |
Each declaration classifies the act it matches, by how reversible it is, its impact and its risk, and gives a verdict:
| Verdict | What happens |
|---|---|
| Block | The act is never permitted, under Law 3. No one can approve it |
| Replan | Lyric does not take the act as planned, under Law 3 for irreversible acts, and plans the work another way |
| Classification only | The act is classified, without being blocked or sent back |
How an act is judged
Where several declarations match an act, the strictest stands. A declaration can raise an act's consequence, never lower it. Every act a policy stopped or sent for approval is recorded in Activity with the reason. See Activity.
Your organization's policies
On Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise, an organization adds its own policies, which belong to it, apply to everyone in it and are reviewed every month. They are judged after the five laws and alongside Lyric's declared policy, and can only make Lyric more careful. See Policies.
Where to see them
In Settings › Organization › Policies on Lyric Enterprise, or Settings › Team › Policies on Lyric Teams, administrators and the account holder see the Constitution and Lyric's declared policy above the organization's own policies. View opens Lyric's declared policy, with each declaration, its classification and its verdict.
