Policies
Every action Lyric takes, on every plan, is judged against Lyric's Constitution and Lyric's own policy before it is taken. Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise organizations add their own policies on top, and the stricter rule always applies.
Lyric's Constitution
The Constitution is set by Dominion Labs and applies to every action Lyric takes, in every deployment and on every plan. It cannot be changed or turned off. Lyric's own policy, which Dominion Labs maintains alongside it, declares the actions and targets Lyric always treats with particular care. Both can be viewed in Settings › Organization (Settings › Team on Lyric Teams) › Policies.
Organization policies
Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise organizations can add their own policies, in the way a company issues an employee handbook. Each policy has:
- a policy ID, generated when the policy is created;
- an owner, the people it applies to, an effective date and a review date;
- declarations for the actions Lyric can take in each connected application, each treated as standard, requiring human approval, or never permitted;
- declarations of sensitive targets, such as particular files, folders or records, that Lyric treats with additional care.
Policies can also be imported from an existing document.
The stricter rule applies
An organization policy can only make Lyric more careful, never less. Where the Constitution, Lyric's own policy and an organization policy all apply to an action, the strictest of them decides. An action that is never permitted cannot be approved by anyone.
Records of each decision
Every action Lyric takes, and every action a policy stopped or sent for approval, is recorded in Activity with the reason for the decision.
