Working with Lyric
Goals
A goal is an outcome Lyric pursues until it is achieved, set aside or past its target. Lyric plans the tasks toward each goal and adapts the plan as the work develops.
Setting a goal
- On the Goals page, select New goal.
- Goal: the outcome you want.
- Success criteria: optionally, how to tell the goal has been achieved.
- Target date: no target date, or a date.
- Autonomy: how Lyric should handle the goal, with any additional instructions.
- Select Create goal.
You can set the goal's priority afterwards, with Edit goal.
| Choice | What Lyric does | Autonomy level | Action minutes per minute of work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autonomously | Performs the work on its own, without asking for approval | Delegate | 1.00 |
| Ask first | Prepares the work and asks for your approval before consequential actions | Assist | 0.65 |
| Manual | Investigates and reports, while you take every action yourself | Observe | 0.25 |
The choices open to you depend on the autonomy levels your plan includes: Manual and Ask first on Lyric Pro; all three on Lyric Max, Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise. In an organization, administrators may allow fewer. A goal keeps its choice if your plan changes, and can be changed only to a choice open to you.
You do not choose the tasks. Lyric decides them, and shows them on the goal as it works.
Goals Lyric sets
Lyric also sets goals itself, from your work, your tasks and the people you work with. They appear on the Goals page with the goals you set, and you can edit, pause or archive them like any goal. A task never asks you which goal it serves; Lyric connects the two.
Whose a goal is
A goal belongs to your organization, to a team, to your work or to your personal life. Organization and team goals are available on Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise. Goals are available on every plan except Lyric Free.
How a goal stands

| In progress | Lyric is working toward the goal |
| On track | The goal is progressing as planned |
| Achieved | The goal has been reached |
| Paused | You paused the goal |
| Archived | You archived the goal |

Goals and usage
A goal itself consumes nothing. Each task Lyric performs toward it consumes action minutes at the rate of the goal's handling choice, and is reported under Goals in the usage panel.
