Working hours

Working hours are the hours in which Lyric starts new work for a person. Outside them, Lyric continues work already in progress and runs scheduled jobs, and performs its daily self-reflection.

Who sets working hours

PlanWorking hours
Lyric Free and Lyric ProNot used. Lyric begins its self-reflection when it has been idle for a period
Lyric MaxSet by the person
Lyric Teams and Lyric EnterpriseSet by administrators for the organization. Employees cannot change them

Working hours apply in each person's own time zone, so a working day ending at 18:00 ends at 18:00 wherever each person works.

How long working hours can be

Working hours can be as long as a person or organization needs, provided each day leaves a period outside them for Lyric's self-reflection. The length of that period depends on the organization, team or person, and on how much information Lyric holds for them. Lyric shows the time it needs when working hours are set, and in the usage panel.

Outside working hours

  • Lyric starts no new work, except scheduled jobs.
  • Work already in progress continues to completion.
  • Scheduled jobs and routine maintenance run as planned.
  • Lyric performs its dedicated self-reflection.

Self-reflection

Lyric reflects on what it learns throughout the day. Once a day, it also performs a dedicated self-reflection:

  1. Review what it has learned since the previous self-reflection.
  2. Reconcile conflicting or duplicated information.
  3. Validate what it has learned against the supporting and contradicting evidence, so that unsupported conclusions do not become trusted knowledge.
  4. Optimize by identifying stale information, redundant data and maintenance needs.
  5. Plan the follow-up work and the questions that remain open.
  6. Commit only the changes that are authorized and validated.

The self-reflection gives way whenever someone uses Lyric, without losing any work, and resumes afterward. If it finishes early, Lyric returns to routine background work. The daily self-reflection does not consume action minutes. A self-reflection a person initiates does.
