Usage
Action minutes
An action minute is one minute of work Lyric performs on your behalf. Action minutes are the primary allowance on every plan.
Definition
Lyric consumes action minutes while it performs work on your behalf: completing a task, pursuing a goal, running a workflow or scheduled job, processing an API request, or performing a self-reflection you initiate. Each minute of work consumes action minutes at the rate of the autonomy level at which it is performed. Conversation does not consume action minutes.
What consumes action minutes
- Every period during which Lyric performs the work, from the moment the work begins until it ends.
- All activity within that period, including reading, reasoning, operating connected applications, running programs and verifying results.
- Each attempt, when work is retried after a failure.
Action minutes are reported in the following categories: Tasks, Goals, Workflows, API and webhooks, and Self-reflection.
What does not consume action minutes
- Conversation.
- Time before Lyric begins the work.
- Time during which Lyric awaits your approval or your instruction to proceed. Consumption resumes when the work resumes.
- Work Lyric performs for its own learning and maintenance, including the daily self-reflection.
Conversations that result in work
A back-and-forth conversation with Lyric does not consume action minutes, however long it continues. A conversation can result in work of any kind: generating a document, writing code, researching, a task, a goal that Lyric pursues through a series of tasks, or a workflow that runs those tasks. That work consumes action minutes while it is in progress, and is reported under its own category: Tasks, Goals or Workflows.
Rate by autonomy level
| Autonomy level | Action minutes consumed per minute of work |
|---|---|
| Observe | 0.25 |
| Assist | 0.65 |
| Delegate | 1.00 |
For a full explanation, see Rate by autonomy level.
Measurement
- Action minutes are measured in seconds, recorded when the work ends and displayed in minutes. Usage is not rounded.
- Action minutes and compute renew on your billing date each month. On annual plans they renew monthly on the same day of each month. On Lyric Free, compute renews on the day of the month the account was created, and action minutes are counted over any 24 hours. In Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise, every seat renews on the organization's billing date.
- Unused action minutes do not carry over to the next billing period.
- On Lyric Teams and Lyric Enterprise, each seat has its own allowance.
Allowances by plan
| Plan | Action minutes per billing period |
|---|---|
| Lyric Free | 7.5 in any 24 hours |
| Lyric Pro | 2,340 |
| Lyric Max 1x | 14,400 |
| Lyric Max 2x | 21,600 |
| Lyric Teams, standard seat | 2,340 |
| Lyric Teams, premium seat | 14,400 |
| Lyric Enterprise, default seat | 2,000 |
When the allowance is used
Work already in progress runs to completion. Because usage is recorded when work ends, work in progress may exceed the remaining allowance; that excess is not charged.
If you hold purchased action minutes or usage credits, new work continues and draws on them at the price of its autonomy level, up to any monthly spend limit you set. See Additional usage and credits. Otherwise, no new work begins, and Lyric displays the following message: “Your action minutes for this billing period have been used. They renew on [date].”
Examples
| Activity | Action minutes consumed |

| A task performed for 20 minutes at Observe | 5 |

| A task at Delegate that fails after 3 minutes and succeeds on a second attempt after 2 minutes | 5 |
| A workflow at Delegate that runs for 2 minutes each weekday for 22 days | 44 |
| 90 minutes of work at Delegate that begins with 10 action minutes remaining and no usage credits | 90. The work runs to completion, and the 80 minutes beyond the allowance are not charged |
